Safari route
Day 1 – Tarangire National Park
Begin your safari adventure with a departure from your hotel in Arusha, followed by a scenic two-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Known for its stunning landscapes, Tarangire is renowned for its towering baobab trees and large elephant population. As the central hub of the annual wildlife migration, the park is home to approximately 3,000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeest, and 30,000 zebras, offering incredible wildlife viewing opportunities. Enjoy a relaxing picnic lunch in the heart of the park before continuing your journey to Karatu. Dinner and overnight will be at a lodge or luxury tented camp.
Day 2 – Journey to the Serengeti
After an early breakfast at 7:30 AM, embark on a scenic drive to the Central Serengeti, specifically the Seronera region, a wildlife-rich area approximately four hours away. The Seronera River serves as a crucial water source, attracting a diverse range of animals. Arriving around midday, enjoy a picnic lunch followed by an afternoon game drive through the vast Serengeti plains. The park’s breathtaking scenery, with its open skies and endless horizons, offers excellent opportunities to spot lions lounging in the tall grasses, elephants feeding on acacia trees, and giraffes, gazelles, and monkeys in their natural habitat. After a full day of wildlife viewing, retreat to your luxury tented camp for dinner and a peaceful night’s rest.
Day 3 – Full Day in the Northern Serengeti
After breakfast, journey to the Mara region of the Serengeti, where you will witness one of nature’s most extraordinary events—the Great Migration. Each year, approximately 1.5 million wildebeest and 300,000 zebras embark on a dramatic trek northward from Tanzania’s Serengeti to Kenya’s Maasai Mara, in search of fresh grazing and water. This epic journey covers around 3,000 kilometers in a clockwise loop and is fraught with challenges, as predators such as lions and crocodiles prey on the migrating herds. An estimated 250,000 wildebeest perish during this perilous migration. Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the awe-inspiring landscapes before returning to your luxury tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4 – Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater
Start the day with an early breakfast before setting off towards the majestic Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you reach the rim, the breathtaking views of the caldera unfold, showcasing one of the most stunning natural wonders in the world. Descend into the crater, a unique volcanic caldera that serves as a sanctuary for an incredible variety of wildlife. The grasslands and acacia woodlands are home to nearly all species found in the East African savanna, and within a few hours, you may encounter the famed Big Five: lion, elephant, buffalo, rhinoceros, and leopard. In the late afternoon, around 5:30 PM, you’ll begin the drive to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay in a lodge or luxury tented camp.
Day 5 – Lake Manyara National Park & Return to Arusha
After an early breakfast around 7:30 AM, set off for Lake Manyara National Park, a lush and evergreen oasis located at the base of the Great Rift Valley. The park is renowned for its diverse habitats, which support a wide range of wildlife, including the famous tree-climbing lions, as well as giraffes, elephants, zebras, buffaloes, leopards, and hyenas. Enjoy a packed lunch amidst the park’s scenic beauty before heading back to Arusha, where you’ll be transferred to your hotel, marking the end of your safari adventure.

About national parks:
Serengeti National Park
As Tanzania's oldest and most iconic national park, Serengeti National Park is one of Africa’s largest and most famous wildlife reserves. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park derives its name from the Maasai word "Siringet," meaning "endless plains." The Serengeti is renowned for the Great Migration, a year-round spectacle where vast herds of wildebeest and zebra migrate in search of fresh grazing lands. Depending on the season, you can witness these magnificent herds in different parts of the park.
Ngorongoro Crater
Part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest inactive and unfilled volcanic caldera. Recognized as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa in 2013, this natural marvel supports a diverse range of wildlife. The name "Ngorongoro" is derived from the Maasai language, mimicking the sound of a cowbell (ngoro ngoro), a nod to the region's pastoral heritage.
Tarangire National Park
Named after the Tarangire River, this park is one of Tanzania’s most picturesque landscapes, famed for its vast elephant populations and majestic baobab trees. Often called the Elephant Paradise, Tarangire offers incredible wildlife viewing opportunities, especially during the dry season when large numbers of animals congregate around the river.
Lake Manyara National Park
A birdwatcher’s paradise, Lake Manyara National Park is home to over 350 bird species, including millions of flamingos that flock to its alkaline waters. Nestled at the foot of the Great Rift Valley, the park is also famous for its unique tree-climbing lions and supports a variety of other wildlife such as giraffes, elephants, zebras, buffaloes, and leopards.
