Why Choose Us for Your Tanzania Safari Adventure
Our safari company is a family-owned business founded by Roman Shirima and Dace Zandfelde, combining decades of local expertise with a fresh perspective. Roman, a native Tanzanian, grew up near Mount Kilimanjaro and has over 30 years of experience as a safari guide, showcasing the stunning beauty of Tanzania's national parks. Dace, originally from Latvia, fell in love with Africa during her first visit to Tanzania in 2021. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dace was able to work remotely from Latvia and explore East Africa, allowing her and Roman to discover Tanzania together.
In 2024, driven by their shared passion for nature and wildlife, Roman and Dace decided to launch their own safari company. We specialize in offering private safari tours for solo travelers, families, and groups of friends, departing from both Dar es Salaam and Arusha/Kilimanjaro.
Our primary base is in Dar es Salaam, chosen for its proximity to the Indian Ocean, which Dace loves. We also operate from Arusha, located near Roman's childhood home by Kilimanjaro. Our unique office setup is a mobile one, equipped in our safari vehicle with a computer, phone, and internet, ensuring constant connectivity and flexibility.

The Meaning and Experience of a Safari
In Swahili, the word "safari" simply means a journey. Locals use it to describe any kind of trip, from traveling within the city to heading out into the countryside. Globally, however, the term has come to represent a journey to observe wildlife. Historically, safaris were associated with big game hunting, especially by foreign visitors, known locally as muzungu. Today, the term has evolved to describe tours where visitors explore national parks, sitting or standing in 4x4 safari-jeeps, while expert driver-guides navigate the terrain in search of wildlife. These guides are knowledgeable about the animals' habits and the best spots to view them within the parks.
Safari Tours in Tanzania
We offer personalized safari tours starting from two key locations: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's bustling economic hub on the Indian Ocean coast, and Arusha/Kilimanjaro, the gateway to Tanzania's renowned northern parks.
- Southern Circuit Safaris: Departing from Dar es Salaam, these safaris take you to lesser-known but equally fascinating parks, including Mikumi National Park, the Udzungwa Mountains National Park with its stunning 170-meter-high Sanje Falls, and Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous), home to Africa’s largest lion population. We also offer trips to Ruaha National Park, one of Tanzania’s most remote and least tourist-crowded destinations.
- Western Circuit Safaris: By special request, we can arrange safaris to the Western Circuit parks, including Katavi National Park, often referred to as the Wild West of Tanzania, and Kitulo National Park, known as the Serengeti of Flowers for its rich botanical diversity.
- Northern Circuit Safaris: Starting from Arusha/Kilimanjaro, this route includes the world-famous Serengeti National Park, the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire National Park with its impressive baobab trees, Lake Manyara National Park known for its tree-climbing lions, and Arusha National Park. Each of these parks offers unique landscapes and wildlife viewing experiences.
Experience the Big Five
Tanzania provides an exceptional opportunity to see the Big Five: lions, elephants, buffalos, rhinos, and leopards. It’s important to remember that these are wild animals living in their natural habitats. The national parks of Tanzania are open, unfenced areas where animals move freely according to their natural behaviors. Encounters with wildlife can vary greatly—whether you observe animals up close, from a distance, at rest, or in action depends on the day and a bit of luck.
